Travel Information

Erlangen is located in Middle-Franconia in the north of Bavaria. It can be reached by train, car, bus and plane.

Train

Erlangen Main Station (Hbf) is located in the city center, about 15 min walking distance from the Conference Venue.

Travel times with IC/ICE are about 1:30 h from Munich and Würzburg, about 2:30 h from Frankfurt (Main), about 2:30 to 3h from Stuttgart, about 3 to 3:30h from Berlin and Dresden, about 4 to 5 h from Essen and Dortmund, about 5 to 6 h from Hamburg, Vienna, and Zurich. Many connections require changing trains at Nürnberg Hbf.

Car

Erlangen is connected to several Autobahn highways: A3 and A6 provide connections from East and West, A9 connects to North-East and South, and A73 to the North.

A central parking lot (Großparkplatz) is located at the Main Railway Station.

Bus

Bus connections to major German and European cities are provided by Flixbus.

Plane

Nürnberg’s Albrecht-Dürer-Airport is located about 30 min away from Erlangen city center by Taxi or public transportation (Bus 30, direct service).

Getting around in Erlangen

Erlangen is a very walkable city with an easy-to-navigate city center, and the main hotels and conference venue not more than a 15 min walk apart.

The Conference Venue is located in Erlangen city center at the heart of the FAU Medical School Campus (Uni-Klinikum Erlangen – Hörsäle Medizin, Ulmenweg 18, 91054 Erlangen)

Public Transportation: Erlangen’s Bus Network is part of the VGN (Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg), which includes Bus, Tram, Subway and Regional Train service in Erlangen, Fürth and Nürnberg.

  • Single tickets within Erlangen are EUR 2,40, day ticket EUR 4,80.
  • Single tickets between Erlangen and Nürnberg are EUR 4,65, day ticket EUR 12,90 (permits travel for 2 persons).
